Maybe I've just got the nostalgia of old Layton games seating my opinion, but this game just didn't live up to any of them. The characters are great and it's full of the same charm as the old games, but it feels like it's too silly. The puzzles were mostly annoying word puzzles and didn't feel satisfying when solved. It feels like it just tried too hard to live up to the shadow of the older games, and it failed.

The game is almost there. Good music and charm, but the puzzles are bland and more often poorly worded rather than clever. Small graphical glitches (like not fitting properly on my screen) are annoying but not game breaking. For a game that is enjoyed on the phone it is annoying that it takes so long to get back into the game if it's closed. It would make more sense to quickload directly back into the action. Often by the time I've loaded the game I no longer have thosw few seconds to fill.

In some ways, you really can feel the loss of the puzzle master. However, the legacy maintains more quality than nearly any other puzzle series, even if it misses the tailored, seemless experience that Tago managed to bring. Sometimes the segues to puzzles are rough or not quite in-lore, some of them are more flashy than they are fun, HOWEVER... If you go in not expecting a Layton game, but a puzzle game, you will not be disappointed. RIP, Akira Tago. Thank you for sharing your puzzles

It's cute, the puzzles are simpler than the ones in the ports for the original Layton trilogy so its more casual and you can easily go back and find coins and puzzles from each case. Given the amount of dialogue I wish there was more voice acting. 4 stars because one of the minigames keeps crashing the whole thing.

Restoring Purchases on my new phone didn't work. Tried ing customer on the game's site and the form didn't work. This game isn't even listed on the Level 5 website. I hate when people one star a game due to technical issues but I feel I've done my due diligence. Any help the company could provide would be appreciated. UPDATE: I managed to fix the issue. Actually installing the game rather then using the phone to phone transfer of it allowed the purchases to be restored. Still haven't heard back from Level 5 but review updated accordingly.

I love the game but I can't bring myself to rate it more than 3 stara due to excessive crashing. Literally every minute or so it crashes and I have to save every time I manage to talk to a character to proceed with the story, it's very frustrating. price wise it isn't so much of a "great deal" either because the game doesn't come complete. There are puzzles in the DLC section that come with the outfits, and total to more than the game itself.

I love the game and you get 4 stars for that but I took away 1 because the about app part said that I have to be online to play this one in the series because it was supposed to have a daily gift thing every day which it doesn't so I don't understand why I can't play it offline once in awhile if you're not going to add daily gifts! That's stupid! The rest of the series is offline after purchase so why can't you make this one the same way?

I love the Layton series and Katrielle is a brilliant heroine, quite full of spunk and humour, it's impossible not to love her. Yet on the other hand, when it comes to lost server data not appearing (even if data was successfully/completely saved to the server) is frustrating if anything.
