Designed from the ground up for Android, the “Marantz AVR Remote” app for Android Phone and Tablet devices will give you an unprecedented level of command and control over the latest generation of Marantz network AV Receivers (due to hardware differences, older models are not ed with this app. Please check the model compatibility list below; if your model is not listed, please our previous “Marantz Remote App”). A wide portfolio of useful features, nicely designed graphics and easy to operate interface do make the app a useful tool to control your AVR.
Control the basic functions of your Marantz product with power, volume, input and settings. Have direct access to Smart Select and Surround Modes.
Network browsing is either done with the Marantz AVR Remote app or depending on model by selecting HEOS network as input which opens the HEOS app automatically.

Absolute garbage! I am very disappointed in this app and the Marantz NR1710 receiver Heos software. Streaming from Amazon music rarely works and this app seems to rarely work on the phone. Bluetooth streaming also does not work half the time. I will have to add another $89 Wiim streaming device to this receiver which works flawlessly.

apparently this app has been bad for a long time. I finally got my Marantz 8015 and it basically does nothing! it constantly crashes. it takes 10 seconds or more to load if it even loads. I have a brand new phone and excellent internet so it's not that. the reviews say it all. how disappointing. at least I can do everything I need to do with the remote but I thought maybe they would have a good app to go along with it. obviously they don't care

Works great with my NR1711. Marantz is Japanese HiFi hardware, so don't expect the app to be a work of software art. It does let you do what you need to do, and that's all. Also, to the guy who edits the same negative review every 6 months or so: the whole point of Pure Direct is to turn off all unnecessary electronics when listening to hi res audio. That is why you don't get a signal to a TV when you engage Pure Direct, and this is by design.

I think it would be a really important feature to be able to turn off the volume control on my phone for the music playing through the AVR. A couple times I've accidentally hit the button to turn the volume up and once I turned the volume as high as it could go accidentally and I feel lucky that my speakers didn't blow because it was extremely loud.

Could be great, but very inconsistent. It intermittently disconnects from the receiver and sometimes won't reconnect without having to restart everything. It will work great for hours at a time, and then not at all. Takes too much time to get it working again. Unfortunate because when it does work it's great.

Slow and buggy. Quits frequently. Not intuitive. Finds my SR7010 and crashes less than the other Marantz apps. Do I even have the right app installed? There are so many, they all seem old, out dated, and buggy. It updated. It's worse now. Get errors while sending error reports. Wants me to Heos app... Which only s the Heos line of products. I'll never buy another Marantz product again. You probably shouldn't either.

**UPDATE 3/27/19** NO FIXES MADE IN 3 YEARS This app hardly ever connects, and is extremely slow once it does. The receiver function is misleading, as certain sources are not available for Zone 2 use UNLESS they are turned on for Zone 1 as well. Pandora connection is poorly maintained and updates are not well coordinated between apps. Spotify connect has the same issues. I bought this receiver to utilize those functions specifically and they rarely work. Never buying Marantz again.

Using this app on a hand me down unit with no remote. Connects on net wire, but says to unplug to configure wireless. Can't control configuration using this app when its unplugged, though... should connect using the Bluetooth receiver maybe, to finish configure? Did allow me to update firmware (I could move the cursor with this. Yay!) It's clunky. But once you get used to the functionality, it seems to work. Just wish I could do the wireless... have a roku in cbl/sat, Dolby stereo. Works.
