Took off a couple stars because they have the wrong stroke order for 我. I pointed this out to them last year and they said they would fix it, but it is still wrong. I don't know how many others could be wrong. If you can live with the fact that you may be learning the wrong stroke, it's the best app to practice writing Chinese characters that I have found. I like how it has an option for traditional characters with zhuyin and the game to write the characters as they fall.

wow, I'm impressed! It's exactly what I was looking for and works really smoothly, and actually more fun to play than I thought. I wanted something that focused just on character writing as I can read already, and this delivers everything you'd want. I also really appreciate that the full version is a single time purchase and not a subscription, or else I wouldn't have bought it. Kai upgrade is a must too. Well-designed and well-executed, thank you and please keep it up!

Fun app, everything is great except for the fact that I can't copy the characters (in order to paste it to the dictionary/flash cards). My cursor won't appear when I tap on the characters. This is such a simple task to do. I paid for all the characters to be unlocked so I would expect to at least do that. Either the app has this problem or just my phone.

I like this app, I am using it just to learn the stroke orders and get used to the characters, at this point. Only point of friction for my use case is that there is a approx. 2 second pause after you do every character, where they play a congratulation message. It would be very useful to have an option to shorten that wasted time period, or turn it off.

Very good app that makes learning characters fun. I especially like this hard mode feature, I use it as a kind of dictation exercise to see if I really know the characters from the top of my head. The full price is justified and I'm glad that it's a one time payment, not 15$ every month like skitter. App has no ads :) Needs some improvements & bug fixes though; sound doesn't play sometimes and you should be able to chose which characters to practice, visual of the strokes isn't perfect

Trainchinese, this is a useful app. I have some requests that would make it even more useful for learning characters. 1. Please don't scroll the pinyin and definitions, especially in practice. 2. When pausing the game, please don't cover the pinyin and definitions with the tips message box (I want to pause so that I can look at those!). 3. Please permit to turn off music and sound effects, yet still play the pronunciation. 4. Please don't darken the screen during practice. I can see how that might enhance the excitement of the game but it's detrimental during practice. If the paid version already does these things, I will purchase; if not, I will just use the free version.

Excellent app. Only slight negatives: When writing, no sound on last stroke. So far, have found 過 is not in the traditional set of characters. Also 這 is not quite written how it looks (written how it looks here, in app uses other style). Can't practice traditional and simplified at the same time even though they show in the same list (just greyed out). Lady pronouncing the characters seems to have a Shanghai accent (would be great to choose other accents like Beijing or Taiwan).

5 stars because this is an amazing utility for improving your speed for writing Chinese. -1 star because at the outset of each trial, the definition of the word is scrolling versus just static at top or bottom of the screen. Due to the scrolling, you can't learn the meaning of the words your writing unless you write less quickly... And if you write less quickly, you lose. So the learning experience is thereby negated slightly.
